A Bit About Me

Hi there! I'm originally from America, but my journey took me across the pond to the UK back in 2018. Before that, I earned my bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Elms College in 2015, and my master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 2017.

My career kickstarted in Virginia, where I worked in the mainstream primary school setting with a specialist autism base, honing my skills and passion for helping children communicate effectively. Upon relocating to England, I've had the privilege to work with a diverse range of children to young people. I use a total communication approach (such as verbal communication, gestures, facial expressions, body language, Makaton, pictures, symbols, and assistive technology devices) to enhance communication and understanding.  I consider myself to be a neurodiversity-affirming speech and language therapist.

While I have a special interest in early intervention (birth to 3 years old), I have worked in both primary and secondary mainstream and special educational needs (SEN) schools in London, providing support to children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN). This involved working with individual students, small groups, and providing training, resources and advice to parents, teachers and other school staff. I have also worked in the private sector, offering services to individuals of all ages (birth to 18), providing assessment, therapy, and support tailored to individual needs. This type of work involved home visits, school visits, parent education, and working closely with other healthcare professionals.

I have my Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and am a current member of the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC), the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Beyond my professional endeavours, I find joy in traveling and spending time with my family. If you were to ask my friends to describe me, they'd probably describe me as an energetic, positive, and friendly person. I can't wait to work with you!
